Lisa Holloway, BSN, RN Certified Plastic Surgical Nurse
Certified Plastic Surgical Nurse Lisa Holloway has worked with Dr. Bucky since 1996, and has an extensive and unique relationship with the practice. Lisa remembers the day she first came to Dr. Bucky as a breast cancer patient.
“I kept a personal journal,” she recalls. “The day I met Dr. Bucky, I wrote, ‘I've been given an intangible gift—a feeling of being safe and well cared for by someone who will stand by me and take care of me for as long as I need.’
“I developed a relationship of trust with Dr. Bucky and his staff, and felt invested in his practice from a personal standpoint,” Lisa explains. “As a nurse, that made me eager to be a part of his practice.”
Lisa works very closely with breast cancer patients considering reconstructive surgery. “I spend a lot of time with these women,” she says. “As a nurse, I want to nurture, and as a former patient, I can provide a unique perspective.”
Each breast reconstruction patient meets with Lisa on a day separate from the patient's other appointments. Lisa takes the time to go over each woman's options for reconstruction. “There are many decisions to make at an emotional time,” Lisa explains.
Lisa has grown with Dr. Bucky's practice. She is a certified nurse-injector and has an extremely active Botox and facial filler practice. Lisa is now regionally recognized as a leader in Botox and injectables, and frequently educates physicians and nurses on Botox and filler techniques.
“I find that developing a patient's trust during Botox and filler injections is a significant responsibility,” Lisa says. “I take this seriously and try and provide the best result with the least discomfort for every patient.”
In addition, Lisa prepares cosmetic and reconstructive patients for surgery. She worked as a cardiac nurse before joining Dr. Bucky's practice, and is comfortable providing careful safety measures in a patient's program.
One of the most rewarding aspects of Lisa's work is the closeness she develops with patients. She recalls, “Sometimes a patient will call up and say, ‘Lisa, it's me!’ I have to giggle. That says to me that I've done my job—I've connected with the patient. We're so comfortable, like friends and family.”
Lisa practices in both Dr. Bucky's Center City and Ardmore offices.

Bill Hoover Surgical Scrub Technician and Board-certified Surgical First Assistant
Surgical technician Bill Hoover has been working with Dr. Bucky on plastic and reconstructive surgery procedures since 1996. He trained at the National Institute of First Assistants and is board-certified by the American Board of Surgical Assistants.
It's Bill's job to prepare the surgical equipment and assist Dr. Bucky in the operating room. Bill hands the appropriate instruments to Dr. Bucky. “Very few procedures can be done by a surgeon standing on his own,” he explains. “I work under Dr. Bucky's direct guidance to coordinate and assist with preparing cases so all goes smoothly.
“We have been working together in the OR for the last 12 years,” says Bill. “By preparing everything for the case, we can concentrate fully on the best results for every patient.
“Although I've assisted Dr. Bucky with nearly every case, patients don't always remember me,” he says. “However, I know that by working to improve the process of surgery, patients get the best care.”
Bill finds working with Dr. Bucky very satisfying. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” he says. “Excellent teamwork, safety and great outcomes are the responsibility of the OR team.”

Elizabeth Cardarelli Licensed Clinical Aesthetician
Beth Cardarelli has worked with Dr. Bucky since 2001. She is one of the first licensed clinical aestheticians in Pennsylvania to work in a physician's office.
“Combining skin care with a top-flight plastic surgery practice provides the total package,” says Beth. “That's what drew me to Dr. Bucky's practice. We take care of patients at a level I've always dreamed of in providing skin care.”
Dr. Bucky utilizes skin care as an integral part of facial rejuvenation. Facial surgery patients meet Beth prior to their surgery. “In addition to skin care, I help patients prepare for surgery by discussing relaxation techniques and good nutrition. For example, pre-surgical vitamin supplements provide nutritional support to improve recovery.”
Patients also meet with Beth early after their surgery. “Follow-up care is so important,” she explains. “I encourage patients to slow down, relax, take a break and allow the body to heal. We walk patients through everything they need to do to recover faster and feel better.”
Our surgery patients notice how an improved complexion and nutritional supplementation enhance the results of their surgery. “I love to see the transformation in people,” Beth says.
Beth considers each patient's skin care needs and recommends an individualized treatment regimen. “I customize a plan to fit the patient's goals, time frame and budget,” she explains.
She stresses the rewards of good skin care. “It's a cumulative effect, like going to the gym,” Beth explains. “Consistency is what changes everything.”
Many skin care patients have been coming to Beth for years. “I have women who have been coming here since they were teenagers,” she says. “I love what I do. Building long-term relationships is the most satisfying aspect of my practice.”
Beth practices at Dr. Bucky's Center City and Ardmore offices.

Jill Ranoia Medical Aesthetician
Medical aesthetician Jill Ranoia has been caring for patients since 1984. As a member of Dr. Bucky's skin care team, Jill specializes in laser treatments. She has been teaching physicians, nurses and aestheticians advanced laser resurfacing since 2005. Jill takes the time to provide similar education to her patients on laser skin care.
“Patients have a lot of questions,” says Jill. “‘Does it hurt?’ ‘How long will a treatment last?’ ‘How much downtime is involved?’ ‘Are there any long-term negative effects?’ I explain that everything is done in a series, and that the treatments produce a cumulative effect.”
In addition to her aesthetician training, Jill speaks from first-hand knowledge. “I don't do any treatment I haven't done to myself first,” she explains.
Jill stresses that for best results, patients need to be fully informed. “We all need to speak the same language,” she says. “Patients need to know what to expect during a treatment, as well as the proper after-care.
“Meeting patient expectations is extremely important,” she adds. “Therefore, realistic communication is critical. Lasers can improve the skin, but a patient's ultimate results depend on compliance, good living habits and the particular skin condition we are treating.”
Jill practices at Dr. Bucky's Ardmore office.
