Dan, a licensed massage therapist, is certified by the Vodder Institute, recognized as the most rigorous and prestigious organization dedicated to the specialized treatment of lymphedema. He specializes in pre and post surgical treatment, as well as treatment for chronic pain and acute injuries. In practice for 14 years, he is past president of the Delaware State Board of Massage and Body Work and has taught numerous massage certification classes. He has been associated with Dr. Bucky for 10 years.
“After your surgical procedure, you may experience discomfort, swelling or restricted movement,” says Dan. “This is a result of the surgical disruption of lymphatic pathways in your body. Your lymphatic system normally removes fluids produced within your body, but this process needs to be re-established after surgery.”
Dan further explains, “The gentle, rhythmic treatment provided by combined decongestive therapy and manual lymphatic drainage ‘reconnect’ the lymphatic pathways which is critical to expediting the healing process.”
“Most patients describe the treatment as soothing and relaxing, and report decreased swelling, reduced pain, and increased range of motion immediately after treatment,” he says”
Dan communicates closely with Dr. Bucky regarding patients who will benefit from this treatment and creates a personalized approach for each person. He has scheduled hours in both the Ardmore and Philadelphia offices.
