Philadelphia Cosmetic Surgery – Our Staff

Lisa Holloway, BSN, RN
Certified Plastic Surgical Nurse

Philadelphia Plastic Surgery Nurse Lisa Holloway

Certified Plastic Surgical Nurse Lisa Holloway has worked with Dr. Bucky since 1996, and has an extensive and unique relationship with the practice. Lisa remembers the day she first came to Dr. Bucky as a breast cancer patient.
“I developed a relationship of trust with Dr. Bucky and his staff, and felt invested in his practice from a personal standpoint,” Lisa explains. “As a nurse, that made me eager to be a part of his practice.”

Each breast reconstruction candidate meets with Lisa on a day separate from the patient’s other appointments. Lisa takes the time to go over each woman’s options for reconstruction. “I explain why a simple breast implant doesn’t work with reconstruction,” says Lisa. “And I also let patients know they don’t have to have reconstruction.

“I advise them, ‘You have to live inside your body long after the cancer is gone. The decisions you make now will affect you physically, emotionally and even sexually for years. It’s a big decision to make at an emotional time,’” Lisa explains.

Lisa has grown with Dr. Bucky’s practice. She is a certified nurse-injector and has an extremely active Botox and facial filler practice. Lisa is now regionally recognized as a leader in Botox and injectables, and frequently educates physicians and nurses on Botox and filler techniques.

“Developing a patient’s trust during Botox injections, I find, is a significant responsibility,” Lisa says. One of the most rewarding aspects of Lisa’s work is the closeness she develops with patients. She recalls, “Sometimes a patient will call up and say, ‘Lisa, it’s me!’ I have to giggle. “That says to me that I’ve done my job—I’ve connected with the patient. We’re so comfortable, like friends and family.”

Valerie Daily, BSN, RN
Clinical Specialist

Philadelphia Plastic Surgery Nurse Valerie Dail

Registered Nurse Valerie Daily has been working with Dr. Bucky since 2006. She serves as a clinical specialist, assisting patients throughout their surgical experience.

Valerie meets with patients during their consultation to discuss their medical history and explain the procedure they are considering. Her thorough knowledge of medical procedures combined with her kind and calm manner make her an excellent resource. “It’s important to me that when patients leave our office, their questions are answered,” she explains.

Because she understands the emotions and concerns that often accompany surgery, Valerie helps put patients at ease as they prepare for surgery. She sees patients during their pre-op appointment and calls or visits them the day after surgery. Patients soon meet with her again during their post-op appointment.

“Recovery is very individual,” she says. “Dr. Bucky and our nursing staff devote special attention to making sure each patient’s post-op healing proceeds smoothly.” She notes the enjoyment she derives from seeing plastic surgery improve not only a patient’s appearance, but self-esteem as well.

Valerie also is an injector at Dr. Bucky’s practice. She was trained by Dr. Bucky and other experts in the field on Botox and Fillers. As a patient herself, she really understands what results women are looking to achieve.

Before joining Dr. Bucky’s practice, Valerie worked as a cardiac nurse. She has been a registered nurse since 1992 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Drexel University in Philadelphia.
Valerie works in Dr. Bucky’s Philadelphia and Ardmore offices.

Bill Hoover
Surgical Scrub Technician and Board-certified Surgical First Assistant

Surgical technician Bill Hoover has been working with Dr. Bucky on plastic and reconstructive surgery procedures since 1996. He trained at the National Institute of First Assistants and is board-certified by the American Board of Surgical Assistants.

It’s Bill’s job to prepare the surgical equipment and assist Dr. Bucky in the operating room. Bill hands the appropriate instruments to Dr. Bucky. “Very few procedures can be done by a surgeon standing on his own,” he explains. “I work under Dr. Bucky’s direct guidance to coordinate and assist with preparing so the cases go smoothly.

“We have been working together in the OR for the last 12 years,” says Bill. “By preparing everything for the case, we can concentrate fully on the best results for every patient.”  Bill finds working with Dr. Bucky very satisfying. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” he says. “Our goal is to help you achieve your vision of beauty. Excellent teamwork in the operating room provides the greatest safety and best outcomes.”
