Louis P. Bucky, M.D., F.A.C.S., is an Associate Professor of Surgery within the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Having received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, Dr. Bucky went on to complete residencies in both general surgery and plastic surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. He pursued fellowship training in both breast cancer reconstruction at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, and craniofacial surgery at Miami Children’s Hospital. During his fellowships in New York City and Miami, he pursued advanced training in cosmetic surgery, and was awarded top regional and national honors in plastic surgery for his work in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Bucky is board certified in Plastic Surgery. He is a member of several regional and national societies, including, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Currently, Dr. Bucky is Chairman of the Perspectives and Advancements of Plastic Surgery Symposium, sponsored by the Plastic Surgery Education Foundation. In 2007, he will serve as President of the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons.

While Dr. Bucky’s education, residencies, fellowships and certifications attest to his knowledge and training, his reputation is based upon his outstanding surgical skill and patient care. He is frequently an invited lecturer at national and international symposia on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He has extensively researched facial aging and is developing techniques that provide for a natural appearance after cosmetic surgery. Dr. Bucky’s practice is enhanced by teaching and research. His research efforts have been awarded top honors in fat transplantation, melanoma, and breast reconstruction. Recently, the National Cosmetic Network filmed Dr. Bucky performing a live surgical procedure in order to educate other physicians on his cosmetic surgery techniques. His clinical research work has been featured in Family Circle, Redbook, Good Morning America, CNN, Plastic Surgery News and MAMM Magazine. Beginning in 2001, Dr. Bucky has annually been named “Top Doc” in Philadelphia Magazine and included in the prestigious Castle Connolly publication, “America’s Top Doctors” for cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Bucky practices at both Pennsylvania Hospital and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
