Airbrushing
Fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth have traditionally been very difficult to treat. However, at our practice, Dr. Louis P. Bucky and our skilled team of nurse injectors and aestheticians offer a proprietary procedure designed to rejuvenate the perioral area with better outcomes than ever before. Known as Airbrushing, this innovative nonsurgical technique combines the benefits of JUVÉDERM® and advanced micro-needling to fill lines and wrinkles while resurfacing the skin and stimulating the body’s natural production of collagen. After a series of treatments, Airbrushing can help you achieve a smoother, more youthful appearance around the mouth with natural-looking, long-lasting results.
The Airbrushing Treatment
To begin the Airbrushing procedure, a diluted JUVÉDERM® solution will be injected into the superficial lines and wrinkles around the mouth. Once these filler injections are complete, patients then head to Dr. Bucky’s Skin Care and Laser Center where they will receive “micro-needling plus” – an advanced technique intended to resurface the skin and encourage natural collagen growth via micro-needling and radiofrequency energy. Overall, the entire treatment process generally takes about an hour to complete, though patients will need to return for two “micro-needling plus” follow-up sessions at two week intervals in order to achieve optimal results.
Recovery and Results
Following treatment, there may be some minor bruising and redness, but these symptoms should dissipate relatively quickly. In fact, you are able to resume your normal daily activities almost immediately. No makeup or ointments should be applied to the skin for about 24 hours, but moisturizer should be used to hydrate the skin. At our office, we typically utilize TEOXANE® Deep Repair Balm, which is a hyaluronic acid-based moisturizer that helps to rehydrate the skin without producing a heavy or oily feel. Additionally, it is recommended that significant sun exposure be avoided for at least 24 hours to help protect the skin.
Patients generally see immediate correction of lines and wrinkles from the JUVÉDERM® or Belotero Balance® filler, while the rejuvenative effects of micro-needling will often begin to appear—and improve—over time as new collagen continues to be produced. For most individuals, as new collagen continues to be produced over time, optimal outcomes of the micro-needling and radiofrequency are usually apparent after approximately four to six months.
