Permanent Makeup
Permanent cosmetics, or micropigmentation, is a process that carefully deposits color into the dermal layer of the skin. It is used for a variety of permanent cosmetic enhancements, such as eyebrows, eyeliner, lip liner, and lip color. It is also excellent for areola restoration.
The permanent makeup procedure is administered by our skin care specialist, Stephanie Curran, using the state-of-the-art Nouveau Contour Intelligent Digital Machine. This innovative technology is programmed with customizable settings designed to increase both comfort and precision based on each patient’s needs.
Common permanent makeup procedures include:
- Eyebrows: Permanent makeup can make thinning eyebrows appear fuller and more defined.
- Eyeliner: Permanent eyeliner can help darken and define the eyes.
- Lips: Permanent lip color can give more fullness and definition to the mouth and even the lip lines.
- Nipple/Areola: Permanent tattooing can be used for skin repigmentation after breast reconstruction.
A licensed and certified skin care specialist, Stephanie Curran offers a unique passion and skill for beauty maintenance in the cosmetic field. Determined to enhance patients’ natural beauty in a modern and efficient way, Stephanie brings her own brand of permanent cosmetics to Dr. Bucky’s practice. Offering patients the convenience of permanent eyebrow, lip, and eyeliner color, Stephanie’s technology also enhances Dr. Bucky’s breast reconstruction technique with new pigmentation tools. With professional and compassionate attention to each individual client’s wants and needs, Stephanie’s line of permanent cosmetics builds upon Dr. Bucky’s focus on health, beauty, and wellness.
Eyebrow Microblading
Eyebrow Microblading is a semi-permanent, superficial solution to sparse, over-plucked, over-waxed and/or thinning eyebrows. Performed by our skilled skin care specialist, this innovative treatment can be ideal for covering scars and gaps, defining shape, creating an arch and filling in the brows with exceptionally natural-looking results.
During the Eyebrow Microblading procedure, a small amount of pigment is manually deposited in the outer layer of skin (above the dermis) using a pen-like tool that contains several tiny needles at the tip. The small size of these needles, which are three times thinner than ones used in a permanent makeup machine, allows for the creation of very fine, crisp hair strokes that do not blur when healed. To help minimize any potential discomfort throughout treatment, a topical numbing agent and/or local anesthetic is generally applied.
Unlike other permanent makeup procedures, there is no downtime following Eyebrow Microblading, so patients can often resume normal daily activities immediately. Some individuals may need touch-up treatments both six weeks and nine weeks after the initial procedure, but once a natural brow shape is fully restored, the results of Eyebrow Microblading typically last about 9-18 months.
Ultimately, Eyebrow Microblading can create fuller, beautiful eyebrows for people with very little brow hair, though it is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding or on blood thinners.
