Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)
Arm lift surgery, medically referred to as brachioplasty, is a body sculpting procedure designed to improve the contour of the upper arms. Often caused by significant weight loss and/or the natural process of aging, many men and women experience an accumulation of excess skin and tissue in the upper arm that remains immune to a healthy diet and exercise. Arm lift surgery can be performed to trim this extra skin and tighten underlying tissue to create a more desirable shape. When stubborn fat is also present, liposuction can be used to further enhance the overall appearance of the arms.
Your Individual Goals
The first step in your arm lift procedure is a consultation appointment with a highly trained plastic surgeon at Bucky Plastic Surgery. During your consultation, your surgeon will conduct a thorough evaluation and comprehensively discuss your aesthetic concerns and goals. Once an individualized treatment plan is agreed upon, you will set a date for surgery and be provided with instructions for how to prepare.
The Arm Lift Procedure
Brachioplasty is performed by removing excess skin and tissue from the upper portion of the arms. The specific technique utilized will depend on one’s skin quality and the amount of skin that needs to be excised to achieve an ideal outcome. Your surgeon may also use liposuction to remove localized pockets of fat and create a smoother, more toned final result.
The arm lift procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia, and our surgeons with a board-certified operating team to maximize the safety and efficacy of treatment.
Recovery from Arm Lift Surgery
Following brachioplasty, you can typically expect an accelerated rate of recovery due to our extensive postoperative care program designed by the Bucky Plastic Surgery team. To help reduce swelling and assist with the natural tightening of skin, a special compression garment is placed right after surgery and should be worn as recommended by your surgeon. Some moderate bruising and tenderness can be expected, but these symptoms should gradually diminish over the course of a few weeks. Most office jobs and normal daily routines can be resumed after about seven to ten days, though any strenuous or physical activities will need to be avoided for at least four to six weeks.
Throughout the entire recovery process, our team will be available to answer questions, address any concerns, and monitor your progress. Additionally, you will have access to a vitamin regimen, personalized nursing care, and lymphatic massage, if desired.
