Over time, the natural aging process can cause your breasts to sag and lose their shape. Pregnancy can also have similar effects on your breast tissue. A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that reshapes and cosmetically alters your breasts. After a breast lift procedure with Philadelphia Board Certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bucky, you can expect improved shape, contour and lift to your breasts that restores a more youthful appearance.
Your Individual Goals
Dr. Bucky will discuss your breast lift surgery goals with you realistically. Breast lifts are often performed in conjunction with breast augmentation surgery. Breast Augmentation surgery today can involve using breast implants or a BRAVA® device combined with your own fat to naturally volumize your breasts. Together you and Dr. Bucky will decide which procedures are appropriate in order to achieve your desired results. After you set a date for surgery, you will be provided with instructions on how to prepare for your surgery. You will also need to schedule an appointment prior to your procedure in order to discuss your previous medical history, take pre-operative photographs, and discuss pre and post-operative care.
Short-Scar Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Through new techniques developed in recent years, breast lift procedures have been refined to avoid the “anchor scar” (vertical scar under your nipple and a horizontal scar underneath the breast.) It is often possible for Dr. Bucky to eliminate or significantly shorten your incisions. You may only need a circular scar around the nipple/areola or a vertical or horizontal scar only. This procedure is typically more complicated than a straightforward breast augmentation. It is dependent on skin quality, breast weight, volume loss, and degree of ptosis or sagging.
Dr. Bucky works with a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and a Board Certified Nurse Anesthetist at Pennsylvania Hospital and Tuttleman Surgery Center.
Breast Lift Recovery
Recovery from breast lift surgery can typically be facilitated by adhering to the post-operative care program Dr. Bucky can customize for you. You will have access to a pre-operative vitamin regimen, personalized nursing, and a post-operative protocol developed specifically for you.
