Lower Body Lift
An accumulation of excess skin in the lower portion of the body is an aesthetic concern experienced by numerous women and men. Typically caused by significant weight loss and/or the natural process of aging, this issue often remains resistant to diet and exercise efforts, sometimes leading to skin irritation, an inability to wear certain clothes, and even limited mobility. Available at Bucky Plastic Surgery, a lower body lift is a customizable procedure designed to remove extra skin throughout the mid to lower body, helping to resolve these problems while achieving an improved overall contour. Bucky Plastic Surgery offers both the posterior and circumferential lower body lift techniques, enabling us to provide the most effective solution based on each patient’s specific needs and goals.
Your Individual Goals
During your consultation, your surgeon will conduct a thorough evaluation and listen intently as you describe your unique concerns and desired outcome. He will then provide a comprehensive overview of your treatment options and help you determine whether a posterior lower body lift or circumferential lower body lift would be the best approach for your particular case. Once the details of your procedure are finalized, a date for surgery will be set and instructions for how to prepare for treatment will be provided.
The Lower Body Lift Procedure
Posterior Lower Body Lift
The posterior lower body lift procedure involves the elevation and smoothing of the buttocks, hips, and outer thighs. This is achieved by removing excess skin and lifting/tightening the remaining tissues. In many cases, liposuction is also utilized to remove localized fat deposits and further improve the contour of the region.
Circumferential Lower Body Lift
A circumferential lower body lift combines a posterior lower body lift with a tummy tuck to remove excess skin and tissue from around the entire circumference of the mid and lower body. The posterior lift addresses the thighs, hips, and buttocks while the tummy tuck sculpts the abdomen and tightens/repairs abdominal muscles, if necessary. Liposuction can also be employed when accumulations of stubborn fat are present.
Recovery from Lower Body Lift
Following treatment, you can likely expect a relatively smooth and accelerated recovery as a result of the advanced postoperative care program created by the Bucky Plastic Surgery team. To help limit swelling and assist with natural skin tightening, a special compression garment will be placed immediately after surgery and is to be worn as advised by your surgeon. You may experience some moderate bruising and/or tenderness initially, though these side effects are temporary and should subside with time. Normal daily routines can usually be resumed after approximately seven to ten days, but moderate to intense exercise and other strenuous activities will need to be avoided for a minimum of six to eight weeks.
Our staff will be available to answer questions and ensure healing is progressing as planned throughout the entire recovery process. In addition, you will be able to take advantage of lymphatic massage, a personalized vitamin regimen, and individualized nursing care, if desired.
