Thigh Lift (Thighplasty)
Thigh lift surgery, or thighplasty, is a cosmetic procedure performed to eliminate excess skin and circumferentially contour the thighs. This accumulation of extra skin is often the result of significant weight loss and/or the natural aging process, and can lead to skin irritation, reduced mobility, and an inability to wear certain articles of clothing for many individuals. Thighplasty helps to resolve these issues while creating a smoother and more contoured appearance in the legs.
Your Individual Goals
At the time of your consultation, he will evaluate your unique concerns and cosmetic goals, as well as perform a comprehensive physical assessment to determine if thighplasty is right for you. Your thigh lift surgeon will then provide an overview of the thigh lift procedure, including details about available surgical techniques and complementary treatment options if necessary. When a personalized plan is in place, a date for surgery will be scheduled and preoperative instructions will be provided.
The Thigh Lift Procedure
To perform thighplasty, extra skin is carefully excised from along the inner thighs to create a smoother look. The particular technique employed will be dependent upon the location and quantity of skin being removed. If necessary, liposuction can be utilized to further enhance the results of treatment when diet- and exercise-resistant fat is also present in the thighs, creating an improved overall contour.
Thigh lifts are typically performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure, and our surgeons works with a board-certified surgical team to help ensure the highest levels of safety and effectiveness throughout treatment.
Recovery from Thigh Lift Surgery
Thanks to the advanced postoperative care regimen created by the Bucky Plastic Surgery team, you can likely anticipate a relatively smooth and swift recovery following thighplasty. Immediately after surgery, a compression garment is placed to facilitate healing and aid in the natural shrinking/tightening of skin. Some moderate swelling, bruising, and/or tenderness can generally be expected, but these symptoms should gradually resolve over time. On average, patients are able to resume non-strenuous routines such as office jobs, school, and running errands after approximately seven to ten days, though all intense physical and/or vigorous activities should be avoided for a minimum of four to six weeks.
Over the course of the recovery period, our staff and our staff will monitor your healing progress and remain available to address any questions or concerns that may arise. If desired, you will also have access to lymphatic massages, individualized nursing care, and a customized vitamin regimen—all of which help to promote healing and optimal results.
